What you’ll provide

• A description of your proposed article.
• How the writing relates to your career advancement (tenure, tenure-track goals, contributing to ASP scholarship, or other considerations).
• Identity fields (name/email/institution, etc.) are collected for administration and anonymized before committee review.

Launched in 2021, this grant supports scholarship by ASP faculty in any area, with academic support-related articles preferred.

Grant Purpose

AASE and AccessLex Institute® are dedicated to the academic and bar success of law students across the nation. This goal is achieved when academic support educators are recognized as program and thought leaders.

Fellowship program

Grant recipients will be publicly announced at the annual AASE meeting in May 2026. Upon selection, all scholars will participate in an approximately 18-month fellowship program that will include mentors to assist them in completing a draft of their articles. The culmination of the fellowship will be a Works-In-Progress presentation at the May 2027 AASE Annual Conference, with a final draft for publication due by December 31, 2027.

• Applicants must be members of the AASE organization.
• Applicants need not have a track record of publications; the grant may be used to jump-start an applicant’s scholarship.
• Scholarship in any area is eligible, with academic support-related articles preferred.

The review committee will use a blind review policy and its members will not know the identities or institutional affiliations of applicants. Applicants will be asked identity questions (name, email, institution, etc.), which a designated non-voting person will anonymize before distributing applications to the review committee.

Grant funds will be awarded to recipients as follows:

• $2,000 at the time of selection
• $1,000 after presenting the work-in-progress at the 2027 AASE Annual Conference
• $2,000 upon submission of a completed article draft in publishable form

• What kinds of projects are eligible? Scholarship in any area is eligible, with academic support-related articles preferred.
• Do I need prior publications? No. The grant may be used to jump-start an applicant’s scholarship.
• When will recipients present and when is the final draft due? WIP presentation at May 2027; publishable draft due December 31, 2027.
