Nachman N. Gutowski serves as Director of the Academic Success Program, and Associate Professor-in-Residence at the William S. Boyd School of Law, University of Nevada Las Vegas. Nachman earned his J.D. from the University of Miami School of Law, and his M.M. from the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami. Before joining the William S. Boyd School of Law, he served as Director of Accreditation and Associate Professor of Academic Success and Bar Preparation at St. Thomas University College of Law. Before that, he spent 8 years in the legal education-focused, corporate, national bar review industry supporting law schools from Puerto Rico through the southeast United States. As a recognized bar exam substantive and skills expert, Professor Gutowski has successfully passed multiple bar exams and has scored high enough on the Uniform Bar Exam to meet the required score for all 41 UBE jurisdictions. His scholarship focuses on academic success in law school, discrimination related to the bar exam, and licensure requirements for legal educational institutions. In addition, he has published and spoken extensively about Generative Artificial Intelligence in higher education, as well as the complexities of data collection and reporting. He previously served on the Association of American Law Schools Section on Academic Support as a member of the Board of Directors. His data-driven and student-centered approach to student success informs his leadership.

Elizabeth Stillman serves as the Associate Professor of Academic Support at Suffolk Law School, where she has held positions within the school for the past 19 years. Stillman is a contributing Editor to the Law School Academic Support blog, contributor to The Learning Curve, and was recently published in the CUNY Law Review blog.

Lisa DeLaTorre is an Assistant Director of Academic Success at Thurgood Marshall School of Law. She runs the tutorial program, arranges periodic workshops, and is available by appointment for one on one meetings to talk about time management, financial planning for the bar exam, academic planning, connecting with school and university resources, what to expect from the UBE, and more. In 2019-2020, she will co-teach bar elective courses for 3Ls. Ms. DeLaTorre has five years of student affairs experience as a senior-level administrator at Rice University. She was a litigator for seven years, primarily in the area of insurance defense, representing defendants in auto accident, slip and fall, dog bite, and medical malpractice suits. Ms. DeLaTorre researched, wrote and successfully argued many dispositive motions resulting in the favorable resolution of her clients’ cases without trial, including an appeal that was resolved in her client’s favor. Ms. DeLaTorre received her B.A. from Rice University and her J.D. from the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law, and passed the bar exam in Arizona and in Illinois.

Tia Gibbs serves as the Director of Academic Advisement and Bar Success at Georgia State University College of Law. Prior to joining the faculty at Georgia State University College of Law, she was previously at Florida State University College of Law as the Director of Bar Success. She started her career in academia on the faculty at St. Thomas University School of Law as an Associate Professor of Academic Success and Director of Academic Success. Prior to joining academia, Professor Gibbs represented lending institutions throughout the state of Florida in real estate transactions. As a Real Estate Attorney, Professor Gibbs was responsible as the Mediation Managing Attorney, to facilitate mediations throughout the state of Florida. Professor Gibbs was a registered Mediator in the state of Alabama where she had a mediation practice. She received her Bachelors in Business Administration degree majoring in Legal Studies from the University of Miami. She received her Juris Doctorate Degree from Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University College of Law. She received her Juris Master in Banking Compliance from Florida International University College of Law. She is a licensed member of the Florida and Georgia Bar Association. She is a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and serves as the Historian for the T.J. Reddick Bar Association.

Carlota ToledoDirector - Academic and Bar Success

Education: J.D., DePaul University College of Law, 2005; B.A., University of Chicago, 2001 Carlota Toledo is an Assistant Professor of Professional Practice and Director of Academic Success. Professor Toledo teaches legal skills and professionalism development courses. In these courses, she helps students self-assess and develop the essential legal skills such as critical reading, logical reasoning, and professional identity. These are the skills needed to excel in law school, pass the bar exam, and succeed in the practice of law. Professor Toledo also mentors and advises recent graduates throughout their preparation for the Louisiana Bar Exam as well as the Florida Bar Exam, Uniform Bar Exam (UBE), and other jurisdictions. She has extensive experience coaching and tutoring law school graduates as they study for the bar exam. Professor Toledo has over 15 years of experience in student affairs and academic advising in post-baccalaureate higher education. She helps professional students with their academic progress and professional identity formation. Before joining LSU Law, Professor Toledo worked with law and medical students at Nova Southeastern University, Indiana University School of Medicine, Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law, and Michigan State University College of Law. Professor Toledo has presented at several national and local student affairs and academic advising conferences on the topics of academic support, co-curricular assessment, professional identity formation, and resilience. Professor Toledo is a licensed attorney in Illinois and a founding member of the Association for Academic Support Educators (AASE). She is also a member of the American Association of Law Schools (AALS) sections on Academic Support, Balance and Well-being, Empirical Study of Legal Education and the Legal Profession, and Women in Legal Education as well as the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA). Professor Toledo’s research interests include topics in academic support, professional identity formation, and assessment. Her teaching experience includes courses on Legal Skills and Professionalism as well as Legal Analysis and Drafting Skills focused on essay and Multistate Performance Test (MPT).

Marsha GriggsAssociate Professor

Marsha Griggs is a Professor of Law at Saint Louis University School of Law. Professor Griggs earned her juris doctor from Notre Dame Law School and her undergraduate degree from Northwestern University. She has published extensively in the areas of attorney regulation, bar reform, and professional licensure policy. Her works appear in the Texas A&M Law Review, S.M.U. Law Review, Harvard Law Review Online, Northwestern Law Review Of Note, and multiple media outlets. She is a member of the Collaboratory on Legal Education and Licensing for Practice.

Camesha LittleAssistant Professor of Law

Education: J.D. Texas A&M University School of Law; B.S.W. Baylor University Professor Camesha Little is a passionate advocate for student success and an innovator in legal education. She joined the faculty at Detroit Mercy Law in 2023, bringing a wealth of experience from her previous roles as Assistant Dean of Students and Director of Academic Support & Bar Programming at Gonzaga University School of Law and National Director-West at Helix Bar Review. Professor Little is deeply committed to supporting students throughout their law school journey and beyond. She is also devoted to serving her community and has been involved with organizations such as Disability Rights Washington and the Spokane County Bar Association Diversity Section. Professor Little's scholarly work centers on integrating academic support into the core of legal education. She believes that by weaving intentional support into every course, learning experience, and student-teacher interaction, law schools can empower students to become lifelong learners and successful practitioners. Her teaching methodology draws upon modern learning science — incorporating cutting-edge research on the human brain and learning processes — to equip students with the tools they need to thrive in the ever-evolving legal landscape. Her research explores the integration of reflective thinking and writing into legal education to foster a more holistic learning experience, enhance emotional intelligence, and cultivate professional identity development. In addition, Professor Little has presented her work at conferences and workshops, including the Lutie A. Lytle Annual Conference and Writing Workshop.

Titichia JacksonAssistant Professor of Law and Director of Academic Success and Bar Passage
Penn State Dickinson Law
Titichia M. Jackson develops, teaches, and supports substantive bar preparation courses and courses that provide academic and law-specific skill development, including Dickinson Law’s summer supplemental bar preparation program and Fundamental Skills for the Bar Exam. She also provides individual academic success counseling to students. As a licensed attorney and former director of bar preparation, Professor Jackson brings both legal practice experience and the practice of applying cognitive psychology in the classroom to her teaching. She collaborates with faculty to incorporate the learning concept of spaced repetition throughout Dickinson Law’s curriculum while training law students for the rigors of law school, the bar exam, and the practice of law. Jackson began her legal career by establishing a private practice in Durham, North Carolina, focusing primarily in the area of family law, where she litigated divorce, child support, child custody, and separation cases. Prior to joining Dickinson Law, Professor Jackson served as the director of bar preparation and support for North Carolina Central University School of Law, where she also taught courses in legal reasoning and analysis, and problem solving. Prior to that, Professor Jackson served as director of legal education for BARBRI Inc. Professor Jackson is currently serving as chair of the AALS Section of Academic Support, and also serves on the Board of Directors of United Way of Carlisle.

Raef GrangerAssistant Director of Academic Success Program, Assistant Professor-In-Residence

Raef Granger is the Assistant Director of Academic Success and an Assistant Professor-in-Residence at the William S. Boyd School of Law. With more than 20 years of experience in law, entrepreneurship, and business coaching, he brings a holistic and practical approach to legal education. His work focuses on equipping students with essential academic and life skills—such as outlining, time management, and stress resilience—to help them succeed in law school and beyond. Raef earned his J.D. from the University of New Hampshire School of Law and is licensed (retired) to practice in New Hampshire and Massachusetts. He owned and operated a client-centered private law practice for over two decades. In addition to his legal background, he holds a B.A. in English and an M.S.Ed. from SUNY Geneseo, and holds permanent teaching certification in secondary education in New York and Texas. Raef has taught at the high school level in Roma, Texas, and served as adjunct faculty at the UNH Paul College of Business and NHTI in Concord, NH. He is also a certified Baptiste Power Yoga instructor. His professional affiliations have included the New Hampshire Bar Association, the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys, and the Baptiste Yoga Community. An active leader in Business Network International (BNI), Raef has been named BNI Member of the Year for New Hampshire twice. |
